Brie De Meaux: French Cheese With A Place In History

The Brie De Meaux is the closest you can get to the real thing when you talk about the type cheese that was served in the tables of emperors and kings during the Middle Ages. It has been served in the tables of diplomats in the Middle Ages, what with its light taste in the mouth with a hint of mushroomy and grassy notes.

In the 19th century, the Brie De Meaux was considered as the cheese of the kings, as it was often preferred by Diplomats because it tastes rich and luxurious in the mouth, but not cloyingly buttery. Brie De Meaux was said to have helped make world peace – in one of the many heated Vienna proceedings, the Frenchman Talleyrand proposed a friendly competition (to lighten the tension between  parties) to find out which country had the world’s best cheese.

An English Lord made sure that it was the English Stilton, while a Swiss noble touted for Switzerland’s Emmenthal as the best. Talleyrand remained still until a chap arrived with his nominee, the Brie De Meaux. As a historian puts it, the Brie De Meaux rendered its cream to the knife and turned the evening into a feast, and no man argued the point since then.

But hundreds of years before that incident in the Congress of Vienna, the Brie De Meaux already etched its participation in history. Documents have it that the emperor Charlemagne has tasted the Brie De Meaux in the year 774. Not only that, facing death in the aftermath of the French Revolution, Louis XVI is reputed to have asked as his final wish for one last taste of the Brie De Meaux before his execution.

The Brie De Meaux was originally from the region of Brie, thus the name. It used to be a strictly Parisian cheese, but thanks to the spread of railways, it has become more available now. But the AOC has made sure that the Brie De Meaux is produced only in certain provinces surrounding Paris in order to ensure consistency and quality.

HAWAIIAN LUSCIOUS LUAU CAKE

1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 can (16-oz) mandarin oranges, drained
4 eggs
1 carton (16-oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 can (16-oz) crushed pineapple, drained
1 large box instant vanilla pudding mix

In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, vegetable oil, oranges, and eggs. Pour into the prepared cake pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool in pans until cakes will come out easily. Place 1 layer on the serving plate and one on a wire rack.

Mix the whipped topping, pineapple, and pudding mix together. If too thick to spread, add a small amount of the pineapple juice at a time until it reaches spreading consistency. Spread over top of cake layer on the serving plate. Top with the second layer. Spread remaining mixture over the top and sides of the cake.

Orange Sorbet

1 tbsp fructose; 425ml boiling water; 175ml frozen concentrated orange juice, thawed; 2 egg whites

Dissolve the fructose in the boiling water. Add the concentrated orange juice, and mix well. Put in a suitable container in a freezer and remove when on the point of setting. Beat well. Whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold into the iced mixture, then freeze until firm.

Pineapple Boats

1 medium pineapple; 150g natural yoghurt; liquid sweetener

Cut the pineapple in half length ways, scoop out and dice the flesh. Retaining a few pieces to use as decoration, put the pineapple in a suitable container in a freezer, and leave until almost frozen. Remove from the freezer and mix with the yogurt and liquid sweetener. Use to fill the pineapple shells and decorate with the reserved pineapple pieces. Serve immediately.

Beat the cold whipping cream and the powdered sugar together in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer set on high speed. Beat until stiff peaks form. Reserve 1 1/2 cups whipped cream for piping, if desired. Spread 1 cup of the whipped cream on the layer on the serving plate. Top with 3/4 cup cherry topping. Top with the second layer, 1 cup whipped cream, and the 3/4 cup cherry topping; top with the third layer. Frost sides of cake with the remaining whipped cream. Pat the reserved cake crumbs gently on the sides of the cake. Spoon the remaining whipped cream into a pastry bag with a star tip; pipe around the edges of the cake. Spoon the remaining cherry topping over the top of the cake

Do you love brownies? I do, especially ones made from scratch, with real cocoa or unsweetened chocolate, eggs, milk and butter. Brownies fall under the “comfort food” category for me; I can’t even think about calories when I’m enjoying these squares still warm from the oven. Bread and butter refers to the way one earns a living (similar to the phrase one’s rice bowl) and a breadwinner is the one who supports the family.

To construct a tiered cake you will need to following materials:

* Dowels (wooden or plastic)
* 1 Cake drum (leave 2″ extra on each side of your cake) i.e. For an 8″ cake, get a 12″ cake drum
* Cake boards covered in fanci foil
* Buttercream or Royal Icing
* Spatula

Combine milk, Splenda, baking mix, eggs, butter, and vanilla in blender. Cover and blend at low speed for 3 minutes. Pour mixture into a greased 9-inch pie plate. Let stand for 5 minutes then sprinkle with the coconut. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

VERY EASY APPLE PIE

pastry for a double crust pie

7 cups peeled and sliced apples

3/4 cup Splenda granular

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 1/2 tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

To stack your top tier, place a dollop of buttercream frosting or royal icing in the center of the bottom tier. Using a spatula on one side and your hand on the other, lift your top tier and place it on top of the bottom tier starting with the side you are lifting with your hand. Slowly lower the top tier with your spatula and then remove the spatula when you lower your cake

Cookie Baking Night: Have Fun Along With Some Wonderfu And Impressive Cookies

Does your family have a cookie baking night? It is a night where you and the children gather in the kitchen and bake cookies together. If you haven’t adopted this yet, then it is time to start. If you do this already, then I am going to show you ways to add up some diversity. Make sure to keep yourself safe with silicone cookware. Prepare to kiss those oatmeals and chocolate chips goodbye and get ready for some cookie adventure!

I am the type of cook that’s always eager to try anything new. I will not shy away from any plan or recipe. If you’re not much as adventurous as me, then you may have to hit that back button now. However, if you’re ready to experience an explosion of taste week after week, continue on my friend.

So lets go into what a few of my recent adventures in cookies, armed with a spatula and a silicone bakewear set. I’ve tried a lot of fresh recipes the last several weeks and am extremely happy that I did. Lets take a look at my favorite till now.

The other day at the great idea to use cake mix to prepare my cookies. This turned out really well. Tasted like actual cookies, but they were moister softer, then any I tried before. Immediately, you must realize just how many options you have available due to how many different types of cake mix there are.

Now this idea isn’t necessarily new, but is something new that I tried. I made my dough from peanut butter. You can make a scratch or actually buy prepared peanut butter dough. silicone spatulas is great for baking.
